About the Journey

Winter turns Spiti into a silent, snow-covered high-altitude desert. Frozen rivers, white peaks and centuries-old monasteries make this one of the most dramatic seasons to visit the Trans-Himalaya. Roads are limited and nights are cold, which keeps the valley quiet and the experience raw and authentic.

This 7-day circuit takes you through the Kinnaur valley, across the high villages of Spiti and back, covering Sangla, Chitkul, Nako, Tabo, Dhankar, Kaza, Langza, Hikkim, Komic, Kibber, Key Monastery, Chicham Bridge, Gue and Kalpa. Along the way you will stay in local homestays, eat home-style food and spend nights under some of the clearest skies in India.

Trip Highlights

Sangla & Chitkul – last inhabited village near the Indo-China border

Nako Lake and Khab Sangam (confluence of Spiti and Sutlej)

Tabo Monastery and caves – among the oldest in the Himalaya

Dhankar Monastery perched on a cliff
